Hobart College graduate student punter Vicente Lyon helped the Statesmen win the battle for field position against Brockport on Saturday, averaging 42.1 yards on seven punts while landing three inside the Golden Eagles' 20-yard line. The Statesmen kept Brockport pinned deep in its own end throughout the game. The Golden Eagles had an average starting field position of their own 18. That stat was particularly important in the fourth quarter as the visitors tried to rally for a game-tying touchdown, but faced an average starting field position of their own 13 in the final 15 minutes. His first punt of the second quarter was downed at the Brockport 1. His first punt of the fourth quarter was fielded at the Brockport 8 where the returner was immediately tackles for no gain. His next punt went out of bounds at the Brockport 11. Thanks to Lyons well-placed kicks and one timely tackle, Brockport had no punt return yards.
