William Smith College first-year outside hitter Cassidy Breuer had a standout weekend for the Herons, who went 2-1 in the William Smith Heron Invitational. William Smith swept Geneseo and Oswego before falling in five-sets to No. 15 Wesleyan. Breuer led the team in all three matches, putting down 49 kills, while hitting .250 on the weekend. She added 26 digs, two aces, one block and one assist. Breuer averaged 4.45 kills per set, 2.36 digs per set and 4.68 points per set through three matches. In her collegiate debut against Geneseo, she recorded 12 kills (.233), seven digs and a block and then followed that up with an 18-kill (.367), eight-dig performance against Oswego. Breuer put on an impressive showing against the Cardinals, recording a season-high 19 kills (.192), 11 digs, two service aces and an assist. It was her first collegiate double-double. Breuer currently leads the Liberty League in kills per set (4.45) after the opening weekend.
