University of Rochester first-year athlete Lauren Murphy broke the school record in the triple jump during her collegiate debut on Friday at the Nazareth Alumni Opener. Murphy posted a mark of 11.97 meters to win the event, set a school record, qualify for regionals and rank third at this point in the season on the Division III performance list. Additionally, Murphy finished third in the long jump with an AARTFC mark of 5.44 meters and ran on the Yellowjacket 4x400 meter relay that won in 3:59.39, also a regional qualifier. Murphy’s long jump mark is 16th on the D3 list and the relay team sits third in Division III as well at this point in the season.
