William Smith College senior midfielder/forward Lily Gutch had a standout week for the Herons as they went 3-0 on the week and picked up two crucial conference victories. William Smith defeated Houghton 5-2, RPI 3-2, and Vassar 2-1, to improve to 9-7 on the season. In those three games, Gutch tallied 12 points on six goals, including two game-winning goals. She now sits at 18 points on eight goals and two assists this season. In the non-conference win over the Highlanders on Tuesday, Gutch tallied three goals for her first career hat trick while leading the Herons to victory. Gutch scored again in a victory over RPI on Friday. She closed out the weekend with a two-goal performance in an upset win over Vassar on Sunday. Through three games, Gutch fired off 11 shots, landing eight on target for William Smith. Gutch now ranks fourth in the Liberty League in goals per game (.500) and sixth in points per game (1.13).
