University of Rochester senior Gabe Thyne put it all together in the final meet of the season before NCAAs, qualifying for the national championship in the decathlon with a victory at the AARTFC meet last week. The senior scored a personal-best score of 6,512 points to rank 15th on the Division III performance list, booking his spot to NCAAs. Thyne’s decathlon was highlighted by event wins in the 400 meters and 1,500 meters, while also scored runner-up finishes in the 100 meters and discus. He set personal-bests in five of the ten events overall to reach his final score. Rochester as a team finished in fourth place overall among the 39 teams that scored during the competition.
