Union College sophomore guard Matthew Garside averaged 22.0 points per game on 58 percent shooting from the field and 62.5 percent shooting from long range to lead Union to victories over the top-two teams in the Liberty League over the weekend. The sophomore started the weekend with 21 points in Friday's 79-77 (OT) victory over first-place Rensselaer, scoring four of Union's nine points in the extra frame and finishing the game shooting 7-of-12 from the field. He followed that up with his second game-winning buzzer-beater of the season on Saturday against Vassar, sinking a shot from just inside half court to cap a career-high 23-point effort in a 78-76 win. Garside finished the game shooting 6-of-8 from long range and scored 15 of his 23 in the second half, as the Garnet Chargers came back from a 15-point first-half deficit for their fourth straight win.
