William Smith College junior outside hitter Malya Sayre led the Herons to a 3-0 weekend at the Stevens Institute of Technology tournament, including wins against Montclair State (3-1), Wentworth (3-0) and host Stevens (3-1). Through three matches, Sayre averaged 4.00 kills per set, 4.09 digs per set, a .217 hitting percentage, 0.55 blocks per set and 4.50 points per set. She had three straight double-double performances to lift the Herons to 9-2 on the season. On Friday, Sayre recorded 18 kills (.204), 14 digs and four blocks to defeat the Red Hawks. She then tallied 15 kills (.316), and 16 digs in a sweep of the Leopards before recording 11 kills (.135), 15 digs, two blocks and two service aces against the host Ducks. Sayre ranks first in the Liberty League in kills per set (4.00) and points per set (4.67). She is seventh in the league in digs per set (3.43) and service aces per set (0.52).
