Union College senior Ian Schunk went 3-0 to capture the “A” Singles title at the Garnet Charger Invitational over the weekend. Schunk won a pair of matches to reach Sunday's final, taking down Drew's Daniel Arcari, 6-1, 6-2, in the quarterfinals and then outlasting St. Lawrence's Edvin Strandberg in a supertiebreaker, 4-6, 6-0, (11-9). He took home the title with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 victory over SLU's Broderick Pinto, coming back from 2-5 in the first set to even the frame at five and then saving a set point serving at 5-6 before holding on in the opening tiebreaker.
