William Smith College first-year setter Delainy Williams had another excellent week as the Herons went 1-2 against tough competition at the Gargoyle Classic. William Smith fell 3-1 to (RV) UChicago and 3-0 to No. 17 Millikin before reverse sweeping (RV) Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. On the weekend, Williams averaged 9.92 assists, 2.42 digs and 1.08 points per set. In the four set loss to Chicago, Williams tallied 41 assists, eight digs, two blocks and one service ace. Against the nationally-ranked Millikin, Williams earned her second double-double of the season, tallying 30 assists and 11 digs. In the five-set win over the Mount St. Joseph, she recorded another double-double on a career-high 48 assists and 10 digs. Williams leads the Liberty League in assists per set (10.57) and is fourth in the league in service aces per set (0.71). She runs an offense that ranks first in the conference in kills per set (13.24) and assists per set (12.33).
