William Smith College first-year defender Janey Sypeck led the Herons' defense with four ground balls and four caused turnovers on the weekend in a pair of NCAA tournament games. Against Gettysburg, she had three caused turnovers and three ground balls leading the Herons to an 18-10 win. On Sunday against Colby, the defense limited the Mules to three goals in the final 45 minutes of the game in a 14-6 victory. Sypeck had a ground ball and a caused turnover. Sypeck is second on the team with 32 caused turnovers and has 29 ground balls.
