University of Rochester sophomore Jensen Sminchak was named to the Medford All-Region team and ended Rochester’s weekend hitting .400 (4-for-10) with two RBI while also going 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts. Her best game of the regional was Friday against Tufts in the winner’s bracket, when she had the go-ahead RBI in Rochester’s 4-run fifth inning. Also, in that game, Sminchak made a huge defensive play, saving a run with a diving catch in center field. The sophomore also provided two hits and a stolen base in the Yellowjackets regional opening win over St. John Fisher.
