2015-16 Liberty League Men's Tennis Awards

Player of the Year: Kai Yuen Leung, Jr., Skidmore College

Skidmore College junior Kai Yuen Leung was selected as the Liberty League Player of the Year for the second straight year. He was a unanimous selection this season. Leung has compiled a 22-6 singles record, including 13-3 in dual matches and 5-0 in Liberty League play. He won the ITA Northeast Region singles championship in the fall and qualified for the ITA Small College National Championship tournament, earning All-America honors in the process. Leung is currently the third-ranked player in the ITA Northeast Region in singles play and is also ranked second in doubles along with partner Nick Tong. Leung will participate in the NCAA Division III Tennis individual singles and doubles championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Rookie of the Year: Jonah Salita, Fr., Hobart College

Hobart College first-year student Jonah Salita was a unanimous selection as Liberty League Rookie of the Year. Salita played all season at No. 1 for the Statesmen, going 9-8 in dual matches. He completed the season with an overall record of 10-10, A four-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week selection, Salita notched key wins for the Statesmen against Ithaca and Hamilton. He also recorded a team-high 12 doubles wins, playing primarily with fellow first-year Jonathan Atwater.

Coaching Staff of the Year: Skidmore College – Nate Simms, Head Coach

Skidmore College head coach Nate Simms guided his team to a 15-5 overall record, a No. 20 national ranking and a No. 7 ranking in the ITA Northeast Region. The Thoroughbreds went a perfect 7-0 in Liberty League regular-season play for the second straight season and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Championship for the second time in as many years. Simms is assisted by Eric Friedman.
